The latest Xbox Developer Direct delivered the biggest look yet at Forza Horizon 6, and the community reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. With Japan confirmed as the setting, new vehicles showcased, and first-look gameplay finally available, fans have plenty to be excited about. But while major features grabbed the spotlight, the event also included several subtle, easy-to-miss details that hint at deeper systems, expanded customization, and possibly even new vehicle classes coming to FH6 Credits the Horizon franchise.
Here are the five low-key details you probably missed from the FH6 showcase—and why they matter.
1. The Maserati MC20 Is Officially Confirmed
While headline cars like the Toyota GR GT dominated the feature trailer, eagle-eyed viewers caught a brief yet unmistakable glimpse of one of the community's most-requested vehicles: the 2022 Maserati MC20.
The MC20 appears only for a moment, but that's enough to confirm it is joining the Horizon 6 roster and will start in the S1 performance class. The car has appeared in other racing titles, including The Crew Motorfest. Still, its arrival in FH6—especially on Japan's mountain passes and expressways—is something fans have been awaiting for years.
This is also noteworthy given that, not long ago in Horizon 4, Toyota wasn't even in the game. Now, a Toyota is the cover car, and a modern Maserati supercar joins the lineup, signaling a continued expansion of licensing relationships.
2. True 540-Degree Steering Animations for Drifters
For a game set in Japan—arguably the world capital of drifting—Playground Games appears intent on elevating driving authenticity. One of the quiet improvements revealed in the Developer Direct is the addition of true 540-degree steering wheel animations.
This has never been implemented in a Forza Horizon title before. Previous games used simplified or limited steering animations, but FH6 finally brings the visual fidelity to match real-world drift technique.
Although the footage showcasing this detail was subtle, experienced drifters noticed immediately—and the reaction has been extremely positive.
3. Front and Rear Wheels Can Use Different Rims
A change that may seem minor but has massive customization implications: players can now equip different rims on the front and rear wheels.
This is a first for the Horizon franchise, and it opens the door to far more creative builds and authentic Japanese tuning styles. Paired with other new customization features—such as window stickers—FH6 appears poised to deliver the most flexible vehicle personalization system the series has ever had.
For players who love stance, drift styling, or motorsport-inspired setups, this is a big step forward.
4. A New Skill Type: Co-Op Link
A new skill notification popped up briefly during gameplay: Co-Op Link.
Although not heavily explained, it appears tied to the number of nearby players participating in free roam time attacks, which is another newly introduced feature in FH6. The skill seems to reward coordinated driving efforts, possibly encouraging multiplayer cruising or collaborative runs through open-world sectors.
Its inclusion raises interesting questions:
Are more skills arriving in FH6?
Will time attack events introduce competitive or cooperative scoring systems?
Could we see expanded social progression similar to Forza Horizon 6 Credits for sale the Eliminator or Horizon Stories?
Playground Games has not revealed the full skill overhaul yet, but this is clear evidence that FH6 is evolving the progression loop.
